Thankfulness {Lately}

Nov 22, 2013 /

It has been awhile since I’ve made a thankfulness post and I thought in light of Thanksgiving in a week that this was a good time to do it. I feel like I’ve been overwhelmed lately with thankfulness – I think I’ve pinched myself a few times today alone – making sure I wasn’t dreaming.

1. We’re moving in less than a month… What?!

This, I am the most thankful for this. We have a lot ahead of us and we couldn’t be more excited. I have a lot to share on the move in the future, but I’m gonna wait a little longer to disclose all the goody details.

2. Packing! Yep, this part excites me… Especially when I do it with my husband. It has been so much fun sifting through our things. We’ve filled a few trash bags and are doing everything we can to “downsize”. I’m excited to start life in Wichita with cleaned out belongings.

3. We took some “family” photos the other day. I love them.

Overall, these last few weeks/months have been so good. I’m ready and so excited for the holidays!

I hope you’ve had a great week! Happy Friday!

Well friends, I knew this day would come. I’ve had the pixie for 6 months – and I’m getting bored.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved the pixie – It’s SO EASY and so fun – but I’m ready to switch things up. So, get ready for “How I’m gonna grow out the Pixie without growing out a mullet” blog series. Okay, that’s not really what it’s gonna be called, but can you tell I’m super nervous about growing it out.

We’ll see how long I can go. This is where I’m at so far…

I’ve kept up with trimming it through September

Pixie From May

And now, eight weeks after the last trim…

November 2013

My bangs are pinned back because they are getting long enough to hang in my eyes! Woo! The sides are getting a little longer (especially the side burns) but the other hair still tucks behind my ears. The back is too long. You can see in the photos that the neck hair is starting to curl up. I need to trim that back ASAP – keeping the back trimmed will be crucial as I grow out my hair.  I’m gonna trust my hubby to be my hair stylist as I go through this process. I’ll keep you updated on that as well.

I will post monthly updates on hair growth probably on a separate Pixie Page. I’ll post a link in the next update.

I hope you’re having a great Monday.

Can you believe Thanksgiving is only a little over a week away? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some time off and some quality family time.

See all my hair growth updates HERE.

Happy Monday!
Love, KJ

House Hunting {Day One}

Nov 15, 2013 /

What we learned day 1

Our first day of house hunting was really fun. Mike and I went into the day excited and anxious to see what would be behind the doors of the houses we’d poured over online.

When we first started looking online we were both able to create lists of what we wanted in a house and what we didn’t need in a house.

After walking through some houses our lists have changed a little bit but not much.

Kelsey’s List

Dishwasher
Garbage Disposal
3 or more bedrooms
2 or more bathrooms
Fence in the backyard
Newish construction

Mike’s List

Nice backyard
3 or more bedrooms
Cool basement – preferrably finished
Garage
Modern/contemporary style
Close to work

We both also wanted it to be in town, with some carpet & some wood floors, a good sized kitchen, and a lot of natural light.

The good news about our lists? Even though they seem long and like we were being really picky, every house we’ve looked at so far has had all of the things above.

What we’ve learned so far?

1. We don’t need a ton of space. We walked through one house that was about 500 sq. feet more than the others and it was shocking how much space there was. I was overwhelmed. So we thankfully eliminated that one even though it was a very nice house.

2. The kitchen needs to be presentable. We are excited about some DIY homeowner things, but we aren’t so excited about entire renovations.

3. The house has to have a good flow. We walked through a house that seemed choppy and confusing. We want good flow that works for us.

4. We aren’t picky enough. This is probably a blessing though. We walked away from our first day of looking with 4 really amazing options that we would love if we moved in tomorrow.

5. I kinda want to add fireplace to my list, but am afraid we’ll find a house without one that we’ll love. They’re so cozy and really make the atmosphere of the house homier. But it’s something we don’t need – So I guess I just answered that one for myself.

I feel blessed to have walked away with so much learned and excited about looking again. We both felt very positive that we would find a house that we both love. House hunting is really fun (so far)!

Happy Friday!
