The Smart Family Photos

Gosh, I can’t believe it was a month ago that I took photos for my friends, the Smarts. I think we took pictures for maybe 20 minutes? It was the fastest shoot of my life, and the pictures turned out so cute. They have only been a family of 3 for 8 months, so it was so much fun to take pictures of this new family.

It was a great day – and you gotta admit, this family is perfectly precious.

Mike and I are busy this week with Halloween – youth group hay ride – and some other extra special stuff (more on that later). It’s also my “catch-up” since I was so sick last week. There is laundry and cleaning and dishes that have been so neglected. There is also a huge file of photos that need to be edited that I’m procrastinating. Bah!

Sick for Dayz

This week has been a long one.

I’ve spent the majority of my time on the couch or snuggled in bed just trying to get healthy. It started last weekend and will hopefully end this weekend. I learned this week that I really hate missing work for sickness. It’s fun to take time off for vacations/fun things, but for just sitting on the couch? Not.Worth.It.

I think at one point I told Mike “I’ve seen all there is to see on the Internet! Make me better already!” Ha – I may have been delirious – but I know I was definitely sick of being sick.

Just dropping in to say we’re headed to Wichita this weekend for a wedding. Mike is actually the musician for the wedding so that’s gonna be fun.

Our Story {Engagement Party}

So at this point we are engaged, excited, and so happy.

After Mike promised me the three things I started asking him other questions. I wanted to know who all knew we were getting engaged and who helped him set all this stuff up – and guess what?

He lied to me!

We’d been engaged for approximately 25 minutes and he lies!

His responses were that his best friend, Samuel, helped him set up (true) and that only his parents knew about us getting engaged tonight (lie). He also said he had asked my dad but that they didn’t know when it was happening (lie).

He then suggested that we head back to his parents’ house to call our friends and family.

It was about a 10 minute walk – it was blissful. I was so happy and still in shock.

When we finally got back to his parents house we were happily welcomed by EVERYONE we love! My family wasn’t there on this night because of other conflicts, but we celebrated with them the next day. Now do you see why he lied?

It was a lie that was well worth it.

If you can’t tell from the photos, it was a great time. We celebrated until the late hours of the night and the next morning I woke up to a beautiful ring on my finger and a wedding to plan. Seriously cannot express how wonderful this night was. It was perfect for us – for our future. I love looking back on this day and remembering all these people – in one place – to celebrate us and the fact that Jesus brought us together for His good and to do good in this world – TOGETHER!
