Five on Friday

Five on Friday

Apr 18, 2014 /

Hey! I am linked up with darci, april, christina and natasha again today for a five on friday!

Good morning blog world! I think Fridays are growing to be my favorite day. I love this time in the morning where I get to blog in bed next to Mike who is still resting. Friday is technically like Mike’s Saturday – so it would make sense that I love the day that he gets to be home.

1. KS Weather

Umm… last weekend it was +80 degrees. On Monday, it snowed. Make up your mind, SPRING! But I suppose I appreciated another chance to wear my slippers and big cozy sweatpants.

2. Alfred Update

Well, he didn’t love the snow but he has been loving the Spring weather. He’ll go outside in the morning and not come back in for hours. He just lounges in the sun and chases bugs. He has also been in a super playful mood. All of his toys go outside with him and they only occasionally make it back inside. The following video is a small snip of what he’ll do with his toys outside. Needless to say, he frequently is needing a bath.

We’ve been trying to take him on walks everyday too. It helps him to sleep better at night which helps Mike to sleep better at night. Well worth it even in the crazy weather. Now for a couple more photos…

3. Trim Update

I finished the hallway trim! On Monday and Tuesday I just decided to knock some trim out. Now I only have the 2nd bedroom, the laundry room, and our bathroom! Oh, and 5 doors.

The photo was taken with my iPhone – sorry about the bad quality. I will take better photos when it’s all done.

4. TJ MAXX

My mother-in-law came to town on Monday for the afternoon and we went shopping! We started at TJ Maxx and she bought me and Betsy these precious dish towels. I am in love with them in our kitchen and they are making me rethink every color I bring into that room. Ha!

I also got some great socks. TJ Maxx is one of the few places I will buy my socks. For example, these Under Armour socks I bought are $15.99 at Sports Authority and $6.99 at TJ Maxx. And they’re AMAZING.

5. Photo Dump

2. Our fresh fruit of the week. Nom nom.
3. The biggest strawberry I’ve ever seen.
4. My new wallet. After confirmation from my fashion and style expert (my little sister) I splurged ($14.99 Target) on a new wallet for myself. I haven’t bought a new wallet since my sophomore year of college…5 years ago.

Happy Friday!

Over the weekend we…

IMG_4147IMG_4157IMG_4156IMG_4155IMG_4169

Ran 3.2 miles together (Couples who work out together, stay together)
Lounged in the sun
Cleaned out my car
Enjoyed our first Easter candy
Hung out with my littlest sister Katie
Took a long nap
Relaxed while watching The Masters
Enjoyed yummy food and card games with friends
Had family stay at Hotel Jaderston
Tested our A/C unit because our house got up to 84 degrees!
(Not sure I’m ready for 100 degree days)
Ate a cinnamon roll the size of my face
And watched Frozen for the first time

It was a wonderful Spring weekend and I’m already looking forward to the next.

Happy Sunday! How was your weekend??
Love, Kelsey

Five on Friday

Five on Friday

Apr 11, 2014 /

5onFridayHey! I am linked up with darci, april, christina and natasha again today for a five on friday!

How are we on this beautiful Friday? I’m up late this morning because a certain smoke detector decided to die in the middle of the night… I’m not going to name names, but HE BEEPED ALL NIGHT! Besides not getting a great nights sleep, I’m excited about the sunshine today.

1. Family Outing

I know on our last 5 on Friday that I talked about loving the spring weather – well guess what? We’re still loving it. I have been taking Alfie on walks or runs almost everyday and I think he is in puppy heaven. Sometimes in the evenings Mike gets to come walk with us as well. We snapped this family photo and I took this video of the boys playing in a field by our home.

2. Spring Cleaning

I deep cleaned our entire kitchen. I’ve been a little bit afraid to pull out our stove since we moved in. You could see that it was dirty down the sides, but I wasn’t expecting it to be as dirty as it was. I’m ashamed that it took me that long to really get it cleaned. I’m relieved now though – and I rewarded myself with fresh juice and a spring outfit.

3. Spring Cleaning (again)

This is less of a clean the house clean and more of a clean up the lifestyle clean. I’ve mentioned Argus in another 5 on Friday. Well it turns out that Argus was the push I needed to really adjust the unhealthy ways I was living. We’re eating cleaner and working out very consistently – I’m also watching my thoughts really closely and praying that they would be more healthy, positive and God pleasing. It was been a good challenge that I’ve already seen a lot of growth from – Praise God.

That is $23 worth of produce from Aldi that I brought home and cleaned then cut up and put into containers for easy healthy snacks. Thanks Pinterest for that lovely idea. My fridge looks so pretty and healthy (excluding the white paint that forever sits waiting for the next door to tackle)

4. Sewing Projects

I’ve been trying to use my sewing machine that Mike got me for my birthday more now that the office is relatively set up. Yesterday I tackled a jean project. I took some jeans from being super flare that fit me really well to being boot cut that now fit me even better. I really love a good pair of jeans that are comfy – these jeans are those and now I will wear them more often! Super flare just isn’t my style anymore.

Flare to Bootcut Jeans

What do you think? I am amazed at how successful I was – I was pretty nervous making a cut into these really nice jeans.

5. Wedding Recap

If you’ve missed it, we’re recapping our wedding on the blog. Yes, the wedding that happened almost two years ago. We did engagement photos on Wednesday and some planning posts before that. Don’t forget to check those out!
