1. Music performances
Last weekend my family and I traveled to good old Lawrence KS to see my little sister perform in Rock Chalk Review. It was amazing! It was only a few (or more) years ago that I was performing in that same show. It brought back a lot of really fun memories and it made me miss the stage a lot, but I’m so glad Maddie got to experience it for herself.
I also got to experience an old friends graduate voice recital last weekend. Wow. Wow. Wow. That’s all I can really say about that. Dani and I were in high school choir together – a lot has changed since high school choir and she has put in so much work over these last 5-6 years to improve. It was incredible.
2. Alfred update
Our little man lives the dream. He has a whole backyard to himself. He has a window seat on the back of one of our couches. He can finally jump up onto the bed whenever he wants and snuggle with our blankets. He’s really just living the life of a dog.
Open door policy is his favorite thing lately. He grabs his toys and plays with them in the sun. Since he’s an only child he had to learn how to play by himself so he learned how to throw his toys on his own. Someday I’ll catch a video of it so I can share it here.
He’s also started doing some bad things. Like this:
He’s gotten hungry. Before now we didn’t have to worry about what food we left out on the table or where we stored the girl scout cookies – but he’s started wanting to eat everything he sees – this includes his own food which we are grateful for. There were days where he wouldn’t eat anything for two days just because. Not anymore. He’s a hungry guy.
All of those photos were taken while Alf was begging for food. Isn’t he cute? He sure turns on the charm when he wants something.

4. New Rain Boots
I’m thankful for my husband for surprising me with some fun new rainboots! I’ve been wearing them as often as possible – sometimes even when it’s not raining.
Have you heard of the Argus app? I’m obsessed. I’ve been wanting a fitness tracker type watch and then I discovered this app. It counts your steps. Keeps track of your workouts. You can add pictures of the food you eat, how much water you drink. It’s so fun! We’ve started a friendly competition between some family and friends of ours. You can add friends and watch how many steps they have. I haven’t had the most steps in awhile, if ever, but it has been a great motivator for me to keep active.
That’s all for now!
