Jaderston Baby: 34 Weeks!

Mar 9, 2016 /

…

IMG_0441

How far along: 34 weeks

How big is baby: About the size of a butternut squash

Gender: It’s a BOY

Movement: Yes lots of movement. His space is getting smaller so his movements are changing. He does a lot more stretching movements than jabbing ones if that makes sense. Mike was able to feel his foot this week. It was so cool but so strange. I do enjoy experiencing all these things with Mike by my side.

Sleep: Still sleeping good. I really don’t know how that’s happening. I am more uncomfortable at night now than I’ve ever been but I sleep and I sleep for long stretches so I’m not complaining about that one bit.

Symptoms: So exhausted. My body is definitely getting tired of this whole being pregnant thing. I’ve had more rib pains this week and I strained some muscles around my ribcage which is pretty painful. My biggest symptom is exhaustion though. I know part of it is pregnancy and that my body is changing and growing in ways it never has before, but this week has been tough. I’ve had to confront some very hard things emotionally and admit to needing help, support, and prayers, which is never easy. I am weary.  I am tired. and I am ready for this baby.

My response right now when anyone brings up the pregnancy and how “close” we are to meeting this baby is we’ll get there. Because we will. The time will come for us to meet this boy, but we aren’t there yet and we need prayers to get us through the now.

Pelvic Pain: The pain comes and goes as expected. Some days are manageable and others are more difficult. I still see the chiropractor weekly and definitely attribute my progress to her. We’ll get there.

Labor signs: No labor signs, but braxton hicks occasionally.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing particular. Still love fruit and ice cold water.

Maternity clothes: Yep!

Workouts: No workouts due to pain.

Nursery: No progress. I took 4 loads of things downstairs this week. 4 was my goal. There are probably 24 more to go. We’ll get there.

Mike: He is busy but doing good. He goes back to his doctor on Monday and we’re hoping and praying the doctor says he can start putting some weight on his leg again. With everything going on with this pregnancy I am so so grateful for Mike and the support he’s been to me. I know it is so hard on him to watch me hurt and to not be able to do anything about it but he loves me so well and has never left my side. I couldn’t do this without him.

Missing anything: Missing lots of things. I know that becoming a parent changes you and I’ll never be the same “me” that I once was, but I miss not feeling like myself. We’ll get there.

Best part of the week: Mike and I started a Friday morning breakfast tradition and I really enjoy that time with him. Any time with Mike is great, but it’s even sweeter as we get closer to the due date.

Looking forward to most: Being a moment, day, week closer to our due date. Can you tell I’m ready for this baby?

Worries/Concerns: We are so thankful that the baby is healthy and the doctor says everything looks great. I am weary and sick of being pregnant, but we’ll get there. Please pray with me. Pray that the Lord will carry me through these last long weeks of waiting for this baby.

Jaderston Baby: 33 Weeks!

IMG_0414

How far along: 33 weeks!

How big is baby: About the size of a durian? And if you’re just as confused at me…Durian

Gender: It’s a BOY!

Movement: Lots of movement still. He moves more when I am still or resting, but I notice him when I’m up moving around too. Mike felt lots of movements this week and is constantly asking about his movements and touching the bump to feel him. I love it.

Sleep: Still sleeping great!

Symptoms: Exhaustion. Shortness of breath after doing practically nothing. Congestion. I’ve had a little bit of leg aches this week that I haven’t had before – it feels like shin splints but goes away when I put my feet up. I keep expecting to have swelling with this pain but so far no swelling in my feet/ankles.

Pelvic Pain: The pain is about the same as last week. Sometimes it’s better and sometimes it’s worse and that is expected since every week this baby puts on 1/2 a pound or more. I wish I could say that I am pain free, but who can say that at 33 weeks pregnant??

Labor signs: No labor signs but have felt the occasional braxton hicks contraction which is kinda fun.

Cravings/Aversions: Loving fresh (cold) fruit and ice cold water. I’ve also been having a peanut butter and honey sandwich everyday I’ve gone to work. I don’t know if it’s a craving, but they always taste good.

Maternity clothes: Yes! I am still mixing and matching but I know a few weeks from now I will be exclusively maternity and Mike’s clothing. Mike’s clothes are the most comfortable right now.

Workouts: No workouts due to pain.

Nursery: No progress this week but we did settle on a crib so there should be big progress in the coming weeks.

Mike: He is doing great. He had another follow up appointment yesterday morning and he is still non-weight bearing on his left leg for two more weeks and then they’ll revisit it again. We’re both sick of the crutches but trusting that this is what’s best for his healing. He has physical therapy twice a week and then “exercises” at home everyday. His tennis season starts this week also so he is busy busy busy. I don’t know how he’s staying on top of everything! We are both so happy that March is here though because believe it or not, things have actually slowed down. Plus, today we can say that we’re having a baby next month (but who’s counting??)!

Missing anything: My pre-baby body.. I know there are still 7 weeks of growth left for this belly but it’s getting difficult to reach my feet and I don’t like that.

Best part of the week: We had a birthing class on Saturday through my doctors office and I was happy to get it out of the way. Mike and I giggled through most of it (because we’re small children at heart) and had lots of great conversation about birth afterwards. We are so ready for April.

Looking forward to most: Two more chiropractor appointments this week and a meet and greet with mommas (some first-time and some with 1-2 kids at home).

Worries/Concerns: Baby is healthy and everything appears to be right on schedule. Yay!

{five} things on Friday

Feb 26, 2016 /

1. Alf

Alfred is never too far away from mom these days, especially when I’m not feeling well and resting. He has become so much more protective of me since I became pregnant and even wants to snuggle sometimes. I soak it up. He will always be my first baby, fur baby that is.

2. Fresh Fruit

Have you noticed how nice it has been these last couple weeks? If not, maybe you live under a rock… But this prepackaged, way to expensive, melon platter was too hard to resist at whole foods the other day. I may or may not have eaten the whole thing within a couple days. I cannot wait for summer.

3. Warm Temps

As mentioned above, this weather, swoon! We had a nearly 80 degree day last week in Kansas, in February! 80 degrees was maybe a little too warm for this pregnant gal, but the 60s and 70s have been just perfect!

4. Built in table

I’ve started doing this with the belly when it’s convenient. I guess this could be considered a perk of pregnancy!

5. Pre-op Mike

It’s hard to believe that surgery was already three weeks ago. I am so grateful for this guy and his positive attitude toward a not so fun situation with his knee.

6. Bonus!

Mike surprised me with these pens last week! If you’re on the hunt for a great liquigel pen that doesn’t smear, these are the pens for you. They’re seriously incredible. You can buy them HERE on Amazon and they’re worth every penny.
