Jaderston Baby: 37 Weeks!

Mar 30, 2016 /

…

IMG_0577

How far along: 37 weeks (full term!)

How big is baby: About the size of a winter melon.

Gender: It’s a BOY

Movement: Yes lots of movement. He has pretty much settled into one position and kicks me in the same spots throughout the day. He gets hiccups a couple times a day too. I think his movements will be the only thing I miss when this is all said and done 😉

Sleep: Still sleeping good! I am waking up at around 5:30 every morning to use the restroom and I usually will lie awake for 10 minutes or so before I fall back asleep after that. I manage to still get comfortable though and I’m so grateful to be staying asleep once I get there.

Symptoms: Exhaustion. Occasional swelling – I took my wedding band off last week and the engagement ring came off this week. I could probably get away with wearing it still, but I’m more comfortable without it. The nausea has come back (insert mega sad face here) and I really have to watch how much I eat. If I eat just one bite too much I feel like I’m going to throw it all back up. Thankfully that hasn’t happened. Overall I’m just very uncomfortable, but that’s to be expected when you’re this pregnant.

Pelvic Pain: The pain comes and goes as expected. Some days are manageable and others are more difficult. I have noticed that if I stay up too late or get overly exhausted the pain is significantly worse the next day. I still see the chiropractor once a week for adjustments and they help so much. I am usually pretty sore the day of but then feel great for at least a couple days afterwards.

Labor signs: Lots of braxton hicks this week. They never hurt, but it does get uncomfortable after awhile.

Cravings/Aversions: Still loving (cold) fresh fruit and ice cold water. I started craving grilled cheese sandwiches this week too (currently eating one as I work on this post).

Maternity clothes: Yep! Either maternity or Mike’s shirts. It’s usually Mike’s shirts and sweatpants though if I’m being honest. I’d rather be comfortable than cute.

Workouts: No workouts due to pain.

Nursery: I bought a crib mattress last week! Mike and I also painted the walls on Monday night which is why this post is going up on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. I love the color we chose and I can’t wait to show some photos once it’s all put back together and some artwork is hung. We still have a little bit left, but I’m feeling more prepared than ever. I also am doing my first load of baby laundry tonight so that’s another step in the right direction.

Mike: He is busy busy busy. I love watching him prepare for the baby. He is so helpful in setting up the nursery and deciding what we need and what we can live without. He talks to the babe and still loves feeling him move around my belly. This weekend he’ll be in KC for a little while for a friends bachelor party. I’m not excited for him to leave, but I am excited for him to have time with friends before the baby comes.

Missing anything: Umm… yes. I am so ready to not feel this uncomfortable anymore.

Best part of the week: Mike’s family surprised me with a virtual shower this week since they are all up north and we haven’t been able to make the trip up there. Packages have been showing up at our house like crazy! It is so fun opening up something new everyday. We feel so spoiled. My family shower was wonderful as well. It was great seeing all my cousins and having so many Scheer girls in one room. Again, walked away feeling so spoiled with so many fun baby things and outfits to sort through.

Looking forward to most: This little ones arrival of course, but also continuing to work on the nursery and prepare for baby. I wouldn’t say the nesting has kicked in like crazy, but it is fun to mentally prepare for this little man.

Worries/Concerns: We are so thankful that the baby is healthy and the doctor says everything looks great. Please pray with me. Pray that the Lord will carry me through these last long weeks of waiting for this baby.

Jaderston Baby: 36 Weeks!

How far along: 36 weeks

How big is baby: About the size of a honeydew melon.

Gender: It’s a BOY

Movement: Yes lots of movement. Many more jabs to my ribs this week. He’s definitely running out of space in there. He gets the hiccups at least once a day (adorable) and Mike can almost always feel his legs/feet/knees from the outside.

Sleep: Still sleeping good. I really don’t know how that’s happening. I am more uncomfortable at night now than I’ve ever been but I sleep and I sleep for long stretches so I’m not complaining about that one bit. I could sleep all day (not joking) and this last weekend I didn’t get out of bed before 10:30. I feel good when I’m sleeping so I do it as much as possible.

Symptoms: Exhaustion. Occasional swelling – I had to take my wedding band off for good yesterday (it’s half a size smaller than my engagement ring). Rib pain. Just overall discomfort – but I suppose that’s just how it gets towards the end.

Pelvic Pain: The pain comes and goes as expected. Some days are manageable and others are more difficult. I have noticed that if I stay up too late or get overly exhausted the pain is significantly worse the next day. Another reason why sleep is my best friend.

Labor signs: Lots of braxton hicks this week. They never hurt, but it does get uncomfortable after awhile.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing particular. Still love fruit and ice cold water.

Maternity clothes: Yep! Either maternity or Mike’s shirts. It’s usually Mike’s shirts and sweatpants though if I’m being honest. I’d rather be comfortable than cute.

Workouts: No workouts due to pain.

Nursery: Not much progress this week. Mike’s high school leaders surprised him with lots of little baby gifts at work on Sunday so that was fun to sort through and “put away”. We LOVE the crib we picked out but it still needs a mattress. I might order one today.. maybe.

Mike: He is busy but doing good. He did get clearance last week to start weaning off the crutches (!!!) so he is down to just one crutch and gets around the house without any. He still has a long way to go with recovery and lots of physical therapy ahead, but progress! Work, tennis, and his current hobby of building an acoustic guitar are keeping him busy.

Missing anything: Missing lots of things. Mobility. Being able to easily put on my shoes. Feeling like myself.

Best part of the week: March Madness! I love this time of year – it’s perfect for my non-mobile pregnant self to just set up on the couch and watch basketball all day long.

Looking forward to most: My dad’s family is throwing us a shower this weekend! It’s all girl cousins on my dads side (except for the first 3 boys) and the majority of the gals have babies already. There will be so much mom experience in one room! I can’t wait.

Worries/Concerns: We are so thankful that the baby is healthy and the doctor says everything looks great. I am weary and sick of being pregnant, but we’ll get there. Please pray with me. Pray that the Lord will carry me through these last long weeks of waiting for this baby.

Jaderston Baby: 35 Weeks!

Mar 14, 2016 /

How far along: 35 weeks

How big is baby: About the size of a coconut. Doesn’t a coconut seem smaller than a butternut squash? Confusing.

Gender: It’s a BOY

Movement: Yes lots of movement. His space is getting smaller so his movements are changing. He does a lot more stretching movements than jabbing ones if that makes sense. We spent an evening with my family and (almost) everyone got to feel the baby move. My littlest sister got kicked hard too. It was really sweet. My stomach gets really strangely shaped now depending on where he’s hanging out so that’s pretty funny.

Sleep: Still sleeping good. I really don’t know how that’s happening. I am more uncomfortable at night now than I’ve ever been but I sleep and I sleep for long stretches so I’m not complaining about that one bit. I had a couple stretches of insomnia this week – that was annoying but bearable. I have also been sleeping in as much as possible and napping when I can. Sleep is my best friend right now.

Symptoms: So exhausted. I keep waiting for the “burst of energy” new moms get towards the end of pregnancy. I guess I’m not close enough to the end. I’ve also noticed that I’m more clumsy than normal. I’m not as sharp as I used to be (pregnancy brain is real) and it’s very frustrating. I get irritated and upset much quicker than usual if I keep dropping things or can’t figure out a problem. Pregnancy is hard, people.

I’ve also had some really funny dreams. I wake up and have to figure out if they were real or not. I hardly ever remembered dreams pre-pregnancy so this is weird for me. Dreams are bizarre!

Pelvic Pain: The pain comes and goes as expected. Some days are manageable and others are more difficult. I have noticed that if I stay up too late or get overly exhausted the pain is significantly worse the next day. Another reason why sleep is my best friend.

Labor signs: No labor signs, but braxton hicks occasionally.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing particular. Still love fruit and ice cold water.

Maternity clothes: Yep! I took advantage of Old Navy’s 40% off everything sale this weekend and bought some spring dresses for my showers and Easter. It will also be nice to have some nicer things to wear to work. I think I’m gonna be SO much more comfortable in dresses as it warms up.

Workouts: No workouts due to pain.

Nursery: Progress! Our crib arrived and Mike set it up on Saturday. We need to buy a mattress so it looks a little sad right now, but it is fun to walk by the room and see the crib all set up. I also took a few more loads of stuff down to the new office space in the basement so our nursery is almost officially only a nursery.

Mike: He is busy but doing good. I’m writing this before his doctor appointment so I don’t know the status of weight bearing on his leg but I can tell you that we are READY for that transition to happen. He forgot his crutches in the garage one day this week so he was pushed around work in a wheelchair for the morning. Hopefully just a couple more weeks of crutches and then we can burn them return them to the sweet family who let us borrow them.

Missing anything: Missing lots of things. Mobility. Being able to easily put on my shoes. Feeling like myself.

Best part of the week: Setting up the crib was very exciting AND the stroller we want released their 2016 model last week. I am so excited about it – it’s one of the few baby gear items that I cannot wait to have.

Looking forward to most: Being a moment, day, week closer to our due date. Can you tell I’m ready for this baby? Also, bachelor finale tonight!

Worries/Concerns: We are so thankful that the baby is healthy and the doctor says everything looks great. I am weary and sick of being pregnant, but we’ll get there. Please pray with me. Pray that the Lord will carry me through these last long weeks of waiting for this baby.
