Jaderston Baby: 27 weeks!

Jan 19, 2016 /

IMG_0350

How far along: 27 weeks! Can’t believe it is the last week of my 2nd trimester…

How big is baby: About the size of a rutabaga (?? What is that??)… 14.4 inches long and weighs about 1.9 lbs.

Gender: It’s a BOY! This is still so hard to believe.

Movement: Yes. Lots and lots of movement. He has moments of really high activity (usually when I’m laying in bed) but I also feel him throughout the day. The movement never gets old.

Sleep: Still sleeping pretty good. The lingering congestion from my cold last week/pregnancy congestion is annoying. I feel like I’d be sleeping even better if I didn’t have to breath through my mouth all the time. But seriously cannot complain in the sleep department.

Symptoms: Still fighting the remnants of a nasty cold/ear infection. I also have experienced some weird light-headedness and feeling faint this week. It’s like my body will shutdown for a little while. I’ve tried to up my water intake even more so and can’t really tell if that is making a difference but never hurts to be more hydrated. Also still having the pubic pain and lower back pain.

Cravings/Aversions: Still craving fresh fruit, french fries, and pop-tarts. I do feel like I’m getting better at eating small more frequent meals and my meals are getting healthier – slowly but surely.

Maternity clothes: Yes and no. I am mixing and matching. I love all my new Old Navy maternity shirts and I’m happy to have more options for work.

Workouts: No workouts and have been told very strictly from my doctor and physical therapist to take it easy. I am “exercising” though if you call my 3-5 minutes a day of PT homework exercising. I’m just grateful to be triggering muscles again and to hopefully be triggering the right muscles to help with the pain.

Nursery: Umm.. I started going through some stuff last night? And I’ve kinda figured out where my office will relocate too. A trip to IKEA is in our future.

Mike: He had a birthday this last weekend! It was so fun celebrating him even though we couldn’t do much with my mobility. But I love taking any opportunity to celebrate him. It’s so hard to believe that this year we’ll be bringing a new little life into this world. I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.

Missing anything: I miss being active.. I miss being able to be on my feet for longer than 20-30 minutes without rest. But it will all be worth it.

Best part of the week: Celebrating Mike’s birthday and just having him home.

Looking forward to most: Next week is the third trimester! I am looking forward to working on the nursery more/reorganizing our life to make it the most functional for when the baby comes.

Worries/Concerns: None! Doctor says everything is on track and looking healthy.

December Moments

Jan 15, 2016 /

…

I was sitting on my computer last night, uploading photos and backing up my hard drive, when I realized how few of our memories from the last few months had made it onto the blog.

If you’ve read along with our Jaderston Baby updates you’ve seen that this pregnancy hasn’t exactly been easy on me. It hasn’t been horribly traumatic either and we have a very healthy baby on his way which we are so grateful for… but my body simply isn’t handling it well. And it has taken a toll on “me”. My mobility prevents me from crafting and DIYing (two of my favorite things) and my energy/motivation/mood has prevented from blogging about things other than the weekly updates.

Obviously, I’d love to make a change. But I also know that it can’t happen overnight and that I need to give myself grace when the most I can do in one day is get in my car, go to work, and come home to bed. Some days are better than others and I also need to be reminded (more often than I want to admit) to choose joy… but that’s a whole different blog post.

Since this is a little scrapbook of our lives, I do want to share a peek into our December and early January.

Christmas morning. It’s tradition to take a photo sitting at the bottom of the stairs before we turn the corner and see the tree. Everyone got the memo to smile except Mike – who may or may not have still been asleep. I love it.

The joy an eleven year old shows when she opens her first selfie stick.

Decorating Christmas cookies.. We got a little carried away with the icing.

Nap time for my boys. One was clearly more into the “nap” than the other, but they stayed like this until Mike woke up. Precious moments.

Last week when Mike was out of town Alfie became weirdly infatuated with our Christmas tree (that is still up). I kept finding him asleep underneath or chewing on nylabones under there. He kept me entertained.

Family hike in Arizona over the New Year! This was the extent of my activity all week, but it felt so nice to get some sun on my face and shoulders and move around even though it hurt.

Happy day!

Jaderston Baby: 26 weeks!

How far along: 26 weeks!

How big is baby: About the size of a head of lettuce… 14 inches long and weighs 1.5 lbs – 2.5 lbs.

Gender: It’s a BOY! This is still so hard to believe.

Movement: So much movement lately. He moves more when I lay down in bed or am getting ready to sleep. He also gets active right after I eat and sit and relax for a bit. I am noticing his movements so much more now and I love it. It never gets old.

Sleep: Still sleeping pretty good. We ordered a memory foam topper for our bed to help with my pelvic alignment and I think it helps? Actually, I have no idea if it helps but it’s comfortable and it’s more supportive than our pillow top. Can’t complain about anything sleep.

Symptoms: I caught a nasty cold this week so all my cold symptoms masked most pregnancy symptoms. I am still having the pelvic pain and lower back pain and seeing a physical therapist weekly. So far I haven’t had much improvement but I am hopeful that the therapy will eventually help.

Cravings/Aversions: I am trying really hard to not fulfill every single craving I have (unless it’s healthy). My first trimester and the ease of getting take out has thrown me into some very bad habits. I am slowly making my way back. I still don’t prefer chicken but am loving fresh (cold) fruit, cold water, and pop-tarts. You win some and you lose some.

Maternity clothes: Yes and no. I am mixing and matching. I ordered some more tops from Old Navy last week when they were having a sale. Can’t wait for those to arrive later. I picked some longer options to hide my maternity support belt when I wear it.

Nursery: No progress, but dreaming up ideas.

Mike: is HOME! He was gone all last week for school and it was LONG week. He got home Sunday night just in time to celebrate my sisters birthday and his early birthday. Life is so much better when he is around and our house feels too big when he’s not there. I have to depend on him so much right now and him being gone through a bad cold and pain/soreness made me realize how much. He had a good week in Minnesota though and I’m grateful for that.

Missing anything: Umm.. I miss being pain free but I can’t dwell on that because this is life right now.

Best part of the week: When Mike came home from his trip and we fell asleep next to each other again.

Looking forward to most: More physical therapy! Anything to get me moving comfortably again.

Worries/Concerns: None! Doctor says everything is on track and looking healthy.
