Home again

Jul 8, 2013 /

Mike and I skipped town on Saturday evening to get some quality time away and to celebrate our anniversary for a quick 24 hours before reporting back for duty in Sterling. It was a great time away from home. The Alf man stayed with my inlaws so we were completely stress free. It’s funny to me that we went on “vacation” just one hour away from our home but sometimes it’s what you have to do. We shut our phones down, rented a movie, ordered food to our hotel room, and rested together. Much needed rest.

I’m not sure if I mentioned on here last week that Mike was battling a sickness. We went into the doctor last week and were told it was an upper respiratory infection that should last a week. We have both now come down with this sickness and he is still running a fever after 8 days of being sick. It was a sour ending to our time away, but I’m glad to be home and in our own bed. We’d love prayers for wise doctors tomorrow and hopefully a remedy for this pain Mike is feeling. It’s not ideal that sickness hit 1 week before camps begin, but we are trusting that our things will get done. We did successfully purchase snacks for 110 little kiddos today so I am pleased with that. One less thing we need to do this week.

Thanks for keeping updated with our lives.
There is much more to say but I will say it when I am thinking more clearly and not so worried about the fever my husband is running or the piles of dishes that need to get scrubbed.
Many blessings,

Mel & Josh {Portraits}

Jun 26, 2013 /

A few weeks ago I got to go hang out with my friends Mel & Josh and take some pictures of them. They are unfortunately leaving this little town of Sterling soon and wanted a few pictures to remember where they started their relationship and their marriage together. These two are so wise and so much fun. I wish I could go back in time and start seeing this couple more often when I moved here. It might be something I forever regret. Anyways, they’re great and here are their photos (well my favorites).

Mel and Josh, thanks so much for the opportunity to photograph you.

Happy Wednesday! I hope all is well on your end of the screen.
Be back soon,

Gone Pixie

May 29, 2013 /

Yesterday I posted the following photos on the instagram to reveal a big change…
IMG_1724 IMG_9481-1At 1:30 yesterday afternoon I told my new hairdresser to chop it off and she beamed from ear to ear. Apparently it’s a hairdressers dream to completely makeover someones look – or at least it’s my hairdressers dream. Is hair dresser the correct term? Hair stylist? Hair chopper? Ha!

Anyways, I made the leap and I love it! I have been playing around with the idea of a pixie since before I got married and I am so glad I finally made the change. I learned a few weeks ago from my momma that my bangs are always in my face because they grow straight forward instead of to the side like most others’ bangs. This probably should have been something I figured out years ago but I needed my momma to remind me why I always had bangs as a child to give me that extra motivation. I didn’t realize the hair in my face ALL.THE.TIME. wasn’t something the average human has to deal with.

Woohoo for stress free – no hair in my face – easy maintenance – and limited use of shampoo – PIXIE!

Happy Wednesday! Stay safe Midwest – just watched the weather channel and there is a 7/10 chance of tornados tonight. Eek! I’m gonna go stock some water bottles into the basement and get ready to make camp down there.
Blessings,
