Dwayne Henry: 10 Months Old

This little baby is turning into a big boy and I am loving every bit of it! Of course I am also feeling all the feels about him growing up and not believing that 10 months have passed since he was born and that we’re 2 months away from one year… BUT I am also loving all the new things he’s doing. He is growing and learning everyday. It’s truly amazing.

This update isn’t that exciting since not much has changed since the last update but it’s still fun. And the pictures.. which I’m sure is why you’re all really here 🙂

EAT

He eats all the things now! He’s really good about trying a food and also really good about dropping it if he doesn’t love it which is great for Alfred, so win-win! He doesn’t get any dairy (because of his allergy) or honey (because doc says so) but everything else is fair game so that’s fun.

He nurses four – five times a day and gets two bottles of formula. I love the routine we’ve gotten into with eating and I’m so glad we’ve been able to stick to this routine for awhile. The first 6 months of this nursing journey were rough so having a routine that’s stuck for two months feels like a dream come true.

SLEEP

He sleeps great! He sleeps all the way through the night probably 2-3 times a week and then wakes once around 6 am and then goes back down the rest of the days. It works for us and I’m loving the sleep.

PLAY

This boy plays hard. He doesn’t sleep as well if he doesn’t get the chance to play play play so we love letting him play and explore.

GROWTH

We haven’t been back to the doctor – we don’t go back until his year check-up (SAD) but he’s definitely growing. His cheeks are puffier and his legs are filling out. I love everything about it.

Beautiful Day

This week in Kansas we had spring, winter, and now spring again this afternoon. Tomorrow we’ll even get a little glimpse of summer.

Kansas weather seems to be the definition of unpredictable lately. Weren’t we just talking about how this winter was supposed to be a particularly rough one? Hmm.

But anyways.. we took advantage of the beautiful temps and spent some time at the park this afternoon.

Dwayne loved the swing but was pretty bored with everything else. It was still a real good time though.

He might be fighting a nap now (umm Dwayne, you usually like to sleep) and I might be debating making a special trip to the store for dairy free puppy chow ingredients…

But we won at the park today and I’m gonna take it.

Dwayne Henry: 9 Months Old

Our sweet boy turned 9 months old this last week (tears.tears.tears) and he is more fun than ever!

E A T

He is really starting to eat real foods like a champ. His favorite food is banana pancakes (2 eggs to one banana) hands down. We’ve started to just give him bites of what we’re eating, as long as it’s dairy free, and he loves it all. On Saturday we tried to use a sippy cup with water in it for the first time and he figured it out right away. He’s always wanting to drink our water or drink out of his bathtub cup. It was time, but it makes him seem like such a big boy.

He is still nursing but takes two bottles of hypoallergenic formula a day to supplement.

Month 9 - 38

S L E E P

He is sleeping well (again)! We had a couple rough weeks this month with high fevers and then bad habits forming but we’re back at it! He naps twice a day for about 2 hours each and then goes to bed at 7:00 pm. He usually wakes up to nurse between 5-6am and then goes back down until 8 when he starts the day.

Month 9 - 65

P L A Y

Dwayne LOVES to play. He is into everything and is so so curious. I love watching him learn and soak in new things. He has started to climb things if he can and he never ever backs down from a challenge. His favorite toy is probably Alf’s water bowls or my medela pump bottles. Of course. He still crawls like a little bear (his knees don’t usually touch the ground) and he is speedy speedy. He also cruises along the furniture and I’m guessing we’ll make some progress towards walking this month since he’s already started letting go and standing on his own. Just for a few seconds but it’s definitely happening.

He spends two days a week with my mom and then one morning at Kids Day Out so that I can be at the office. He loves going to my parents house (because their dog is nice to him) and I love that he has another place to explore during the week.

G R O W T H

We saw the pediatrician last week and he is a happy, healthy, growing boy. His weight percentile is finally coming back up (to a whopping 13%) but we’ll take it! He’s our tall and skinny little peanut.
