Dwayne Henry: 11 Months Old

Oh man, 11 months is F U N!

EAT

Dwayne is eating so well. He eats all sorts of solid foods now and per the pediatricians instruction he’s still nursing/having a bottle 7 times a day. I attempted to reintroduce dairy again last week on vacay and it did not go as planned – it did go better than last time though so progress!

SLEEP

Right now in this moment sleep is optional at our house. But give us a few days and more time away from dairy and I think we’ll be back to sometimes sleeping through the night and sometimes waking just once to eat. I’m hopeful. And delerious.

PLAY

I feel like I’ve been saying this for months but he is SO close to walking. He has taken one step, one time that we know of. He plays peek-a-boo, shows us he’s “so big”, rolls it all the time, dances, and giggles constantly. He’s a really happy baby and we feel so blessed by his good mood. Even though he isn’t walking yet he still gets around really quick.

We made this video for a giveaway on instagram a few weeks back, but since we didn’t win the random drawing I’m just happy we have this sweet memory of how Dwayne got around as a baby.

As I type this we are less than a month away from having a 1 year old! This is another one of those “I can’t believe it, but it’s definitely been longer than that” moments. We are so blessed by this little boy in our lives and we love watching him grow.

To the valley…

We are on the last day of our 6 day trip to Arizona. We’re pretty sad about our time in the sun being over, but also I kinda love the end of vacation. You get to go home and resettle into routine. It feels like a fresh start and I love a fresh start – plus I maybe got a little too much sun.. oops!

Dwayne was such a good baby this trip! He napped and slept great, his mood was great, and he was so much fun. We spent one afternoon at the pool with him and he LOVED the water. His favorite thing was probably playing with all the new “toys” at the house though. He’s a curious little man.

He turned 11 months old this trip so I’m excited to take his 11 month photos when we get home. He’s all about the baby tricks right now which is fun.

We came to Arizona with both of Dwayne’s sets of grandparents so there has been absolutely no shortage of love and attention for our boy.

Happy day, friends! And sorry about all the rain in Kansas. I think we’re bringing the sun back with us!

Do you get excited (only a little) when vacation is over? I have a whole list of new habits I want to start.. here’s to not letting myself down! Mike doesn’t get excited about going home (not even a little) and I’m pretty sure he thinks I’m crazy for having these feelings!

Things I’m Loving {plus afternoon thoughts}

Okkaaaayyy.. So this blog. It has been neglected (to say the least) and I have spent a lot of time over the last couple weeks/months thinking about it and whether or not I should be allocating any energy or time to this space now that Dwayne is around and I’m working more. I’m all about prioritizing things and this has been missing the top of my list for a long time now, but what I’ve learned in all the thinking is that it is still on the list.

I’ve had this space for almost 5 (FIVE!!) years. It holds so many memories and projects and pictures and thoughts and stories and ugh, I love it.

So, with all that said, I’m sticking around! But this space is not at the top of my priorities list and I am no longer going to let myself feel guilty about a season of life. This has been the sweetest season of life to date and guilt about a blog on the interwebs does not deserve my time.

I’m here today, during nap time, in between emails for work, with some things we are loving as a family right now.

1. I ordered some new v-necks from gap last week during a 40% off sale. I ordered the gray wash and the navy. I order mine in “Tall” so that I have more post baby body coverage and I think they’re more comfortable long!

2. These cups for Dwayne have been awesome. He figured out how to drink out of them before I did and we love that they really don’t spill. #pleased

3. Do you have an instant pot? Have you joined the craze? We joined at Christmas (thanks mom and dad!) and so far just LOVE it. I have used it for so many things already but know there are so many areas of instant pot that I have yet to enjoy. I really want to try coconut milk yogurt? Anyone have any experience with this?

4. These jammies for Dwayne! It’s a lot harder to find footie pajamas after babies hit one year and we still have a very much a footie pajama wearing boy. Old Navy did not disappoint this week with the mentioned above 40% off sale. I ordered a few pairs in 12-18 months and then one more 6-12 month that should last another couple months. The bike pattern was my favorite so I ordered it in both sizes.
