Dwayne Henry: 6 Months Old

Oct 31, 2016 /

…

In two days we will celebrate our little man being 6 months old! These 6 months have flown by, but then again they’ve lasted forever.

Dwayne is such a good baby. He sleeps well, he eats well (finally), and he smiles almost all the time. Even now, suffering through his first cold, he is happy happy!

He loves to eat. We’ve introduced purees and some solids and so far he enjoys all of them. He plays with his food and then devours his food. And we’re still breastfeeding. I never imagined that we’d be successful through 6 months with how our bf journey started. I won’t get into the details but this feels like a major accomplishment for me. Actually… I know it’s a major accomplishment for me. So proud of how far Dwayne’s come on this journey.

He’s sitting up and scooting everywhere. Currently looking at baby gates online. He coos and has just started copying sounds that we make. He also loves to stick his tongue out. And to suck on his first three fingers when he’s tired.

The one thing he really doesn’t enjoy is the nose frida. Oh and if I pick him up from his crib and then change his diaper right away or set him down to play. He wants to be held after he sleeps until he has a full belly.

There are so many things about this boy that make him unique. We love seeing his personality develop and see how he expresses himself. Best, shortest, longest, most challenging, most rewarding 6 months of our lives.

Love you, sweet boy.

Happy day!

Trunk or Treat

Oct 30, 2016 /

Hello, strangers.

Life has kept me very busy and distracted. So that’s not new. But in my attempts to prioritize, the blog had to take a backseat.

Tonight we participated in our church’s Trunk or Treat event! Rumor has it that over 3500 people came through. Whoa.

Our trunk theme was “God’s Gym” and Mike did ALL the heavy lifting (PUN for the win) in terms of setup and actually hosting the children. You had to do something physical to get your candy: push ups, jumping jacks, lifting a heavy weight, step ups, squats, etc.

Dwayne and I did the easy work of dressing the part and posing for the camera.

It was a fun night. Mike was in his element and did such a good job helping the kids have fun. This is one of our church’s big outreach events and it was so fun to see it succeed to levels of madness. Seriously madness. Where did everyone park? I still am not sure.

Thanks for coming out tonight, Wichita!

Dwayne and I are staying with my little sister tonight and I took these photos just before he went to bed. He is joy. And the best thing Mike and I have ever done.

Happy day!

Growing out the Pixie {3 years}

Oct 5, 2016 /

I have officially been growing out my hair for 3 years. Whoa. You can see all that wonderful progress HERE.

I had a trim in February before Dwayne was born – and hated it. Not sure if it was the cut or the style.. the lady gave me “bangs” which I don’t like unless they can tuck behind my ear and they were just a tad too short so they were ALWAYS in my face.

All of this is one big first world prob.. So I’ll keep going..

Since Dwayne was born my hair has been up in a pony or a clip (pictured below). It’s long enough to be in the way during nursing and now my little mans grabby fingers LOVE it.

Tomorrow I am getting it chopped! Mom style! For this little cutie..

I’m so excited and super nervous. It has been a long time since I had short hair or hair that I couldn’t throw up into a ponytail. But I think it will be good. It will force me to “get ready” more often and trust me, I neeeed that.

I am planning on going with the October of 2014 length but I will also hand over creative responsibility to the professional. I’ll keep you posted.

Buh bye! Happy Day!
