Life {Lately}

Life {Lately}

Sep 23, 2013 /

Welcome, Monday! I wasn’t sure if I was going to be ready for you when I woke up this morning, but it’s (usually) a good thing to start a new week. We happily welcomed fall yesterday! We celebrated by napping, watching football, and napping while watching football. It was wonderful.

This weekend was a great one. We started on Friday by heading to Wichita to get some family time. After disc golf with Matt and Betsy and getting the oil changed we headed to my parents house for pizza. We spent a lot of time laughing with my littlest sister and then we got some froyo for dessert.

On Saturday we woke up WAY TOO EARLY for a weekend, but were on the road by 7 to see the little sister in her new home, Lawrence, KS. We went to the KU game, toured her new home, and toured her future home. We also had to have a froyo stop in there because obviously we love it.

We headed back to Wichita and eventually back to Sterling for church this morning. Our good friend Samuel was preaching and it was truly a joy listening to him share his passion for serving. Then, like I said before, we had afternoon naps (where we couldn’t reach the blankets so we covered up in pillows) and football.

It feels great to have our last summer weekend under our belts because that means that boots, scarves, and sweaters are just around the corner. I am sad to say goodbye to sunburns and my summer freckles though.

Happy Monday! I hope your week is filled with many blessings.

Happy Birthday Alfred {1 YEAR}

Happy Birthday Alfred {1 YEAR}

Sep 19, 2013 /

FeatureI cannot believe we have made it a year with our little guy. I guess it’s been less than a year, but we knew about him about a year ago. His birthday was on Sunday and he was very celebrated. He got to chase some squirrels, bark at our neighbors, chew on a new bone, spend the afternoon with his best friend Boo dog, and got a new toy. Whoa. Do we put too much effort into our puppy? Yes.

the bed, jump, bark at neighbors and
squirrels, and snuggle. Your favorite treat is turkey and you have
mastered: sit, down, roll-over, touch (jump), wave, speak, kennel up, and leash.
You constantly amaze us by your quickness and you love to learn new things. You really love to please us and feel super guilty when you do something wrong. Our favorite thing about you though is your excitement when we come home or come back into a room. You rock.}

Our pup has been such a blessing to us.
Feel free to laugh at our obsession with him, but I’m so glad I have these blog posts to remember him when he was little. Now, prepare yourself for when kids come because if you think this is excessive…

Happy Thursday!

Easy & Cheap Scarf Holder

Easy & Cheap Scarf Holder

DIY Scarf Holder

Anybody else feel that scarves are the perfect addition to an outfit that’s lacking? Yep. This is about all the fashion advice you’re gonna get from me. If you don’t love it throw a scarf on… It’ll help. Hopefully?

My fashion consists of athletic clothes and sweatpants. It’s my jam. Dressing up is something that happens rarely outside of work and church. I keep hoping that later in life I will learn to embrace fashion, but Nike is too comfortable at this time in my life.

Don’t worry, I own a couple colorful skinny jeans, lots of cute cardigans, and some vintage tees that are great. They just aren’t my preferred clothing.

Anyways, scarves. I own LOTS of scarves.

Before my scarf holder, this is usually how you could find them….

DIY Scarf Hanger

Piled high either on the floor or in a bin in the closet. It worked for awhile and then I saw some scarf ideas on Pinterest: hooks, hangers, even shower curtain rings attached to hangers. These were all great ideas but I didn’t want to spend the time or money on those things. Then one day, I was in hobby lobby and the decorative hangings were 50% off. This little guy was screaming my name…

So heres my trick… Instead of using it for paper towels, hang your scarves on it!

And there you have it, a cheap and easy scarf holder to keep that closet a little more organized or to add a pop of color to your bedroom.

Cost of this project? $7.99 (without the added cost of continually buying scarves)

Goodluck and happy organizing!
