2 door garage

It feels like forever ago that Mike’s grandparents were here – but this post is mostly about that.

Grandpa J is a very hard working grandpa. He is a “master” at construction things (in my opinion) so when they walked through the new house he had lots of great ideas for us to update it.

It should probably be noted that I was pretty sick when they were visiting. I spent a lot of time in bed and my memory is a little foggy on everything that happened while they were here. But I do know the Grandpa J put Mike to work and that our garage went from having one door to having two.

We were lucky that there was already a door frame put in. The previous owners just never put in the door. All Grandpa J and Mike had to do was cut the hole – and a lot of other things but I really want to clarify that I wasn’t feeling well and being able to take these photos was all I could contribute to this project.

We bought/rented all of our supplies at home depot. I had no idea it was so cheap to rent tools for a day! In total this project cost us about $215 including the door and the hardware. Yippee!

It was snowy and freezing the day they did this. Mike would occasionally come in and warm up his hands over the stove (Grandma J was making homemade chicken noodles). We are very pleased with the outcome and so grateful for the grandparents for helping us get this project done. We are debating moving the fence up a little ways so the door goes out into the backyard and we also need to get some dirt to level out the step when you walk outside the door. Right now it’s quite a step down.

I’m a little nervous for spring time and this house. The yard is essentially non existent and there is zero landscaping. Yard work has never been something I love, so hopefully Mike has some great inspiration//previous knowledge on how to grow grass or plant things. But now we have a door from the garage to the yard and I think that’s a great first step.

Happy Thursday!
