Just a quick update from my phone today to share that yesterday, August 25th, I became an aunt and Mike became an uncle!
Welcome to the world, Pierce Thomas Jaderston. You have been prayed for and waited on and you were worth every bit of the wait. We love you so much!
I can’t get over his cheeks. Seriously. This boy is perfect.
Yesterday was baby day and today is a very happy day!
It’s Friday!
When we were out of town for a few weeks this summer I completely stopped working out. When you’re working summer camps there just isn’t enough time for working out. On Monday afternoon, I attempted to workout again. 4 weeks off is tooooooo long.
But I did get to cool down with a nice walk around our neighborhood pond with the pup. He enjoyed it and I enjoyed the fresh air.
It cooled off this week in Kansas! Just for a couple days, but it was welcomed with open arms and open windows. It was the first morning in a loooong time that we woke up in a cooler house than what our thermostat was set at. Saving energy and getting snuggly!
I celebrated by wearing one of my favorite crew neck sweatshirt.
We finally bought a shower curtain this week! Don’t worry, we had an opaque liner that we had been using until now. I’m so happy with it and it makes the room feel brand new.
I started working on a new project yesterday. These baby pallets are gonna be so.much.fun. And it was a little warm in our garage.
Today is my last day with the kids before they go back to school and our schedule changes. I’m hoping for lots of playing outside and fresh air. Next week will be homework and after school activities instead.

We had a very uneventful weekend and I am so thankful for that. Our summer was everything but uneventful so laziness is completely welcome in this home at the moment.
I woke up sick on Thursday morning which forced me to stay in bed all day Friday and most of the day Saturday. Summer colds aren’t fun but I did enjoy the forced rest and the surprise “feel better” flowers from the mister.
I dragged myself out of bed on Friday night to eat pizza and play pitch with some of our friends at church. We started meeting with them a year or so ago and they taught us how to play pitch and we’ve been meeting every since. It’s always boys vs. girls and we always laugh a lot.
Sunday morning was my first Sunday back at church in what felt like ages. I went with comfy casual clothes since I still wasn’t feeling 100%. The only reason I’m sharing this is because Alf completely photobombed my pic that I meant to send to my sister. He kills me. Also, the shirt I’m wearing is wonderful. Super comfy, long, and affordable!
On Sunday evening we said goodbye to our summer roommate. Mike’s little brother moved in with us in May and he headed back to school yesterday. He took over our basement and it worked out great because we hardly ever use that space. I attempted to put our guest room back together after he left and decided to move our workout stuff in there. I think I’ll like working out in a room where I can close the door. Maybe that will motivate me to start working out again after our many weeks away.
And that was our very uneventful weekend! Today was another day off for me and I have been soaking it up. Our house is getting some TLC and I think I’m actually going to cook tonight? I wonder if I’ll remember how…
