If These Walls Could Talk…

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 13 months since Mike and I moved into our little house in Sterling. I remember thinking that it would never feel lived in. The walls were blank and there were boxes everywhere.

Our utility bill is what inspired this post to be completely honest. When we first started our utilities in Sterling we had to pay a security deposit. If we paid our bills on time for a whole year we would get our deposit back and guess what? We had a credit on our bill a few weeks ago labeled deposit! We are in good standing with the City of Sterling!

A lot has changed in 13 months, missing a payment not included, but I’m happy to say that our house does feel lived in – and there are lots of things on the walls that I love! IMG_9089 IMG_9091 IMG_9092 IMG_9094 IMG_9095 IMG_9096 IMG_9098A few things to note: don’t ask about the indian, sorry about the blurriness on the M & K
photo, and I wish I could put banners around my entire house.

I don’t know if it’s the starting back to work in 5 days, the Mike starting his last semester of undergrad, or that we’ve been married for a whole year, but I have been very nostalgic lately. Is this how everyone feels after a great summer and a year of marriage? So that’s why I’m posting the walls of our house on the blog today. In 15 years when we’re growing older (yes, I’ll be 38…) I want to have something to look back on. This is our first house we shared.

If these walls could talk….

Actually I’m not sure if I want to go down that avenue, but they would say lots of really funny and I’m sure embarrassing things. They would also tell me to CLEAN THE 2ND BEDROOM – again and again. I don’t know how it keeps happening but it is our PIT of a room. I’ll clean and 2 days later you can’t see the floor. It’s a mystery to me.

We don’t have a “style” yet and our things don’t exactly match, but it works for us right now and it makes me feel good coming into a house with things on the walls. For some reason that is my indicator of it feeling homey. That and blankets to snuggle up in and an unmade bed. How do you people make your beds look like they are in a magazine every.single.day? Another mystery….

Well there you have it – a post about our house with lots of tangents and 2 mysteries. It’s just one of those days.
Happy Friday!
