I feel like I get on this little blog and tell all my wonderful followers how busy Mike and I are at least once a week. Well, guess what? We’re finally not (that) busy!
Don’t get me wrong, we have things to fill our time. I’m working on a few projects for people around town – and I have a few projects of my own. I’m helping Mike’s parents with Northern Pines things and I’m occasionally helping out friends with their precious little boy. Mike has youth group to plan and now he has officially started planning Northern Pines’ Wilderness program for the Summer of 2013!
That may sound like a lot, but to us it’s a breath of fresh air. We have time for one another. We have time to workout together. We have time to play Super Mario Brothers on the Wii together. So far, Summer 2k13 is the best summer. We don’t have anything major to plan for – like a wedding – and we just get to relax together for what seems like the first time in our marriage.
Speaking of marriage, it’s so hard for me to believe that tomorrow Mike and I will have been married for 11 months. It’s so strange to feel like you’ve been here forever but then again feeling like it started just yesterday. I spent some time this morning thinking about our journey to marriage: being long distance, the proposal, the planning, the wedding, moving the Sterling. Our marriage has been through a lot in the last 11 months but gosh, I cannot wait to see what is to come.
Anyways, on to what this post is really about…
Our anniversary is fast approaching. We haven’t talked about whether or not we’re doing gifts yet – mostly because Summertime is not a great time for us to buy something behind the others back. But my sneaky little husband (who happens to be known for being sneaky to me) pulled a trick on me.
He surprised me with a new lens! Unfortunately (or fortunately in my case), we decided to crack down on our budget this summer so he had to tell me he bought it before our actual anniversary because he didn’t want me to see it on our bank statement. So I got my gift a month early! I haven’t really had much opportunity to use it, but I did snap a precious photo of our main man earlier today.
Photography is something I just recently became interested in. I’m not sure where I want to go with it quite yet, but I have learned that I love being behind a camera. It means the world to me that Mike supports me in that and is never opposed to me pulling out my camera. I hope to share more about my photography adventures/goals on here in the future, but I think this post is nearing its max.
We are off to Wichita for the weekend. We have family time, family gatherings, bachelor parties, and birthdays coming up. I’m so excited to see some extended family I haven’t seen in awhile and Mike will get to meet some of my family members for the first time!
