Over the Weekend {in photos}

Feeling all sorts of proud this morning. My little sister graduated from KU this weekend! And even though it was a long and exhausting day, it was so sweet to be able to see her walk across the stage. In all honesty, that’s all we saw. Dwayne was missing his morning nap and only wanted to be crawling around so we popped our heads in for her name and then we went on a long walk. It was a beautiful day so I wasn’t complaining.

We missed big sister Jenn and Mike, of course, but it was fun having most of the family together for the day. #rockchalkjayhawk

On Sunday, we had a very relaxed day. Since we had such a long day on Saturday with only one very small (38 minute) nap for Dwayne in the car, D and I skipped church so he could sleep the day away. He took two 2.5 hour naps so I would say he pretty much succeeded. In the evening I asked Mike to play tennis with me.

Mike played tennis in college. I “played tennis” in maybe 5 lessons as a small child. There is quite the gap in our skill levels but he’s teaching me! Last night was the most consistent I’d played in a while so it was pretty fun. After we played we let Dwayne out of the stroller and Mike captured these beauties.

Dwayne is walking quite a bit now – but only when he has something in his hands. His favorite things to walk with are the swiffer broom, large pillows, and toys. If he’s empty handed he still prefers the bear crawl. He is such a joy.

The last couple weekends have been pretty sweet with this little family of mine. It’s not often that we have consistent evenings at home or consistent time with friends but these last two weeks have been just that. 

Lots of family time and lots of friend time and also a lot of middle of the night time. I’m looking at you, Dwayne. And I’d love for that to stop. 

Easter Sunday was a sweet reminder of how good our God is and how powerful Jesus’ life on earth was. We had a great day of church, lunch with Mike’s family, and then dinner with mine. 

Dwayne and Pierce shared a “meal” at this table last weekend. And by meal I mean a handful of puffs. I love that these sweet cousins are growing up together and we are so so blessed having our family close. 


Father son time has never looked cuter! Mike took Dwayne to the disc golf course one evening this weekend and I think this will be a go to activity for them. AND I had some time to sit on the couch, watch Greys Anatomy, and just be. It was amazing. And look at Dwayne’s face. He kills me in the best way.

Things I’m Loving {plus afternoon thoughts}

Okkaaaayyy.. So this blog. It has been neglected (to say the least) and I have spent a lot of time over the last couple weeks/months thinking about it and whether or not I should be allocating any energy or time to this space now that Dwayne is around and I’m working more. I’m all about prioritizing things and this has been missing the top of my list for a long time now, but what I’ve learned in all the thinking is that it is still on the list.

I’ve had this space for almost 5 (FIVE!!) years. It holds so many memories and projects and pictures and thoughts and stories and ugh, I love it.

So, with all that said, I’m sticking around! But this space is not at the top of my priorities list and I am no longer going to let myself feel guilty about a season of life. This has been the sweetest season of life to date and guilt about a blog on the interwebs does not deserve my time.

I’m here today, during nap time, in between emails for work, with some things we are loving as a family right now.

1. I ordered some new v-necks from gap last week during a 40% off sale. I ordered the gray wash and the navy. I order mine in “Tall” so that I have more post baby body coverage and I think they’re more comfortable long!

2. These cups for Dwayne have been awesome. He figured out how to drink out of them before I did and we love that they really don’t spill. #pleased

3. Do you have an instant pot? Have you joined the craze? We joined at Christmas (thanks mom and dad!) and so far just LOVE it. I have used it for so many things already but know there are so many areas of instant pot that I have yet to enjoy. I really want to try coconut milk yogurt? Anyone have any experience with this?

4. These jammies for Dwayne! It’s a lot harder to find footie pajamas after babies hit one year and we still have a very much a footie pajama wearing boy. Old Navy did not disappoint this week with the mentioned above 40% off sale. I ordered a few pairs in 12-18 months and then one more 6-12 month that should last another couple months. The bike pattern was my favorite so I ordered it in both sizes.
