{Snow}tober
It snowed today.
Not just a couple sprinkles: really snowed.
If you are a Kansan I’m sure you are just as pleased as I am. The snow today was stunning. Absolutely shocking, but stunningly beautiful. I love that it wasn’t just a 20 minute snow, but a 6 hour event. The ground would turn white for just a little while and then it would melt and again turn white. The flakes were huge and there wasn’t any breeze so they fell very gently to the ground.
Oh, so this is what snow on October 18th feels like?
It feels wonderful. I am home from work now, snuggled up on the couch with my favorite blanket. I have warm fuzzy socks on and I can hear the furnace running in the basement. It’s a good Friday. I am so much more than content. This is peace.
A few people at work brought out their complaints today… The “It’s too cold,” “my plants are all going to die,” and the “It’s too soon for this!” were ringing in my ears. I was so tempted to join in, but am so glad I decided to enjoy this day instead of grump about and complain.
Tomorrow it will be 67 degrees again and today will be forgotten, but I’m glad I can look back and remember how much joy the snow brought me.
Yea, my last post was all about not wanting winter and not enjoying the cold – I still stand by all those statements – but today the beauty and mystery of God was apparent and a place where I found joy.
Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you have a blessed and exciting weekend. The end of the proposal will be up on Monday!
Love, KJ
