Engagement Photos

Over Christmas break (2011) we chose our wedding photographer and with our wedding package we got a session of engagement photos. I was pumped about this because Mike and I had never really taken photos together – just little iphone ones from random times. So, on December 30th we headed out to the Great Plains Nature Center to snap some photos. For December 30th it was actually a really nice day – until the end when you can tell that my nose was starting to get a little red.

Something that was unique with Mike and I was that we didn’t kiss in any of our engagement photos. We actually never kissed in front of anyone until the day we got married. I love that we kept those moments to ourselves until we declared our marriage in front of all of our family and friends. I also loved that our photographer loved our desire not to kiss. We felt no pressure at all and had a really relaxed and fun evening.

My thoughts/comments:

I want that hair back. NOW.
I love that we laughed so much together.
The Nature Center was stunning – even in the dead of winter.

Mike’s Senior Chapel

Last week was Mike’s last week of undergrad classes. Tomorrow he will officially be done with school (for now)!

It’s such an exciting time for us right now. Mike’s graduating and we’re moving and so much is changing, but it’s beautifully exciting.

Anyways, I was able to take an hour off work this last week to go to Mike’s last chapel. He has been involved in chapel worship through his education and this was his last one leading. He also shared a portion of his testimony. It was sad to be his last, but also great. He did such a great job (proud wife moment) and I loved watching him lead.

This is one of those things I never want to forget and I’m so grateful that I have this place where I can share and forever remember little things like Mike’s last chapel at Sterling College.

The Smart Family Photos

Gosh, I can’t believe it was a month ago that I took photos for my friends, the Smarts. I think we took pictures for maybe 20 minutes? It was the fastest shoot of my life, and the pictures turned out so cute. They have only been a family of 3 for 8 months, so it was so much fun to take pictures of this new family.

It was a great day – and you gotta admit, this family is perfectly precious.

Mike and I are busy this week with Halloween – youth group hay ride – and some other extra special stuff (more on that later). It’s also my “catch-up” since I was so sick last week. There is laundry and cleaning and dishes that have been so neglected. There is also a huge file of photos that need to be edited that I’m procrastinating. Bah!
